Special Assignment has been filling cases across the State of Michigan for the past 3 years. To date, the most common types of cases in the Michigan Special Assignment Case Log are: 1. **Possession/Delivery/Manufacture of Methamphetamines (Meth/Del/Mfg Meth/Poss Meth):** 11 cases. 2. **Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC-1st/CSC 1 +/CSC 1/CSC - child V/CSC 3rd Hab 3/CSC 3rd Hab 4/CSC 3rd Degree 4 Counts):** 11 cases. 3. **Assault with Intent to Murder/Grievous Bodily Harm (AWIM/GBH/AWIM 4H/GBH Strangulation):** 5 cases. 4. **Resisting and Obstructing (R&Ox2/Assault Resist/Obstruct/Resisting and Obstructing):** 5 cases. 5. **Operating While Intoxicated (OWI/DUI 3rd/High BAC):** 5 cases. 6. **Domestic Violence (DV/DV 3d Hab 2/Domestic Assault/DV 3rd/Domestic Violence 4th hab):** 4 cases. 7. **Felony Firearm/Weapon Possession (Felony Firearm/Weapons-Taser Posess or Sale/Weapon Possession H4):** 3 cases. Many cases include "Habitual Offender" (Hab) status enhancements, indicating they are serious matters. The MSA project confirms that routine cases, such as drug possession elevated by habitual offender status, are among the most difficult to fill, often requiring multiple attempts to secure a capital-qualified attorney.
